Rit Spikers and Destruction - Worth the hassle?
I may have found myself in one of those "Great idea, but only in theory" situations. Only recently did I start playing a Ritualist and, regardless of their energy management issues, I am in love with their AoE damage spikes.
I've been looking over and testing some of these Minion Bomber builds but I don't really feel they are practical to execute. It's messy, in my opinion. Mostly the Death Nova aspect of it. You see, as far as I know there is no way to target allied minions and spirits with a hotkey. Same with Spirit of Destruction. The following combo seems like it would be a lot of damage in a fairly short amount of time, but it's not working that way for me. Cast Destruction > give it some time to charge > cast Cruel Was Daoshen > run up to group of enemies > Spirit Rift > Ancestors Rage > Draw Spirit > Rupture Soul > Drop Ashes of Daoshen.... I guess this could work without Spirit Rift considering you have to target an enemy to use it which would mean losing your target on Spirit of Destruction needed for Draw Spirit, but I wouldn't want to cut it because Spirit Rift can do over 100 AoE damage to an unlimited number of enemies. I don't know how other people play, but I am terrible at mouse-click targeting, especially when things are moving around. If there was a way I could hot key a target my allied minions and spirits, this would make things so much easier. Anyway, if anyone has any suggestions on improving this idea or even some other nice damage spike builds for a Ritualist, I'd love to hear them. rits have best e-management skill wise in game.
try this: [destruction][destructive was glaive][spirit rift][ancestors rage][draw spirit][essence strike][rupture soul] last slot is optional. |

There is no hotkey for "target nearest spirit/minion", which really does make minion bombing difficult for a human rit player. One of a number of builds that heroes just do better, IMO.

[Grasping Was Kuurong], as the build you say used to carry.
Destruction -> Run -> Spirit Rif -> Drop Ashes -> Ancestor's Rage -> Draw Spirit -> Rupture Soul |

I recently picked up my Rt again, getting her through factions, and I gotta say, they're awesome to play
All you need for energy management is [Essence Strike]. I used a build with [Weapon of Quickening] [bloodsong] [essence strike] [spirit rift] [spirit burn] [splinter weapon] and I could spam all the damage skills to my heart's content. Didn't really spike - I am playing in NM, so most enemies were dead quickly, but it did plenty of damage. |
